I originally put Marvin Miller at the top of my ballot, but then, since it’s called “contributers”, I thought about what his contributions were. He would be first ballot if the players vote, sure. He wouldn’t be on the ballot if the owners voted, which is why he isn’t in the real one…. What did he contribute to the game of baseball? Honestly did he contribute anything?

He worked exclusively on the business side, and he had nothing to do with the game itself. Giving him a plaque would be like giving a battle citation to a payroll clerk. I have much respect for what Marvin Miller did for baseball players, but I don’t see how he did anything for baseball itself.
